What info I learned and what I find interesting about the interviews…

Wow! it was really informative. You could get the info right away instead of reading a book. First of all from Kim’s interview, I learned that Da Vinci not only studied art, but also anatomy and engineering, which he was expert in. He also invented his own inventions. That is new info for me. It is amazing that he could be excellent at those topics even though they are very different from each other.I also learned about Marco Polo, whom I do not know much info about from Shane’s presentation. I learned that he could speak 4 languages, which is alot. And I learned that he said that “Exploring will increase the knowledge” which is true. He also wrote a book called “2 million” if I’m correct. Before I knew these things, I thought that Marco Polo was a game and a Chinese dude. But apparently, he is not. From Tom’s interview with Michelangelo, I learned that he was born at 16th of March, and you know how parents support their kids? Michelangelo’s dad did not want him to become a artist! He followed his dreams and becamme famous after all. He was best at poetry, architecture, and sculpting. From Zaira’s presentation, I learned that Martin Luther was brave enough to spread his vision of the religion of Christianity. He quit the monastery because he wanted to share his life with a woman. He married a beautiful woman and he created the 95 thesis. From Anthony’s interview with Miguel de Cervantes, I learned the that he wrote books that change how people look at the world. And that is very hard to do. What I found interesting was that people made it sound like a talk show, and girls did female renaissance people and the guys did male renaissance people. Someday, I want to become famous like these people. hehe.,,

What would you change to improve your interview/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?

I would pretend that I am hosting a talk show so people would become more interested. It is so boring if you just start off with a question without a introduction. I would also add classical music and try to make it sould proffesional, and TRY TO FIND A QUIET SPACE TO RECORD THE INTERVIEW!!!!! I would also make background sounds, like a person calling, King Henry sir! Since he is a king. And maybe at the beginning, I would add clapping noises!

Mcgirk, Tim. "Palestinian moms becoming Martyrs." TIME. Time. 8 May 2007
     <http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1617542,00.html>.

Suicide bombing is very common in the middle east. This is not a good thing. Suicide bombing is taking the lives of others and themselves. It can happen anywhere, anytime, anyplace. In Palestine, women are constantly pressured into becoming a martyr. A martyr is a person who willingly suffers death rather to escape from personal despairs.

Others are pushed into it for having to break taboos in the strict Palestinian society.

They interviewed captured suicide bombers and asked them what made them want to kill themselves and others. They were told from a terrorist recruit that if they die, a bevy of 72 females await them in heaven.( For guys) But for girls, it was told they would become queen. Adults who have children are now influencing them to suicide bomb because they do it.

What is the issue?

The issue is that now suicide bombing is what happens everyday, and kids are influenced by their parents to kill themselves when they are fully grown.

Who is involved?

The people of middle east, because they are the ones committing the suicide bombing and killing or injuring others.

Who is affected and how?

The kids whose parents are or going to be a suicide bombers are because they are influenced by them. That means in the future, there will be endless suicide bombers.

What would I do if I was directly involved?

There isn’t much I can do if I was a kid, but I will tell the police of Palestine if I was a kid there that my friends, or relatives are going to plan or do a suicide attack. That will prevent a lot of deaths in Palestine and the other countries in the Middle East.

Q When and where were you born?

If you must know, I was born at the Palace of Placentia at Greenwich on June 28, 1491.

Q What special skills of talents do you have, and how did you get them?

Well, I am good at avid gambler and dice player. In my youth, he excelled at sports, like jousting, hunting, and tennis, and I am a natural player.

Q what are your most famous works/deeds?

I am most famous for marrying 6 women. There names are Catherine of Aragon who gave birth to Mary 1.  I have divorced her, and then I married Anne Boleyn, who flirted with other men. She gave birth to Elizabeth 1. Of course, this is not acceptable so I recently chopped her thin neck off.  And then soon after that, I married Jane Seymour, who gave birth to the first boy ever, Edward, who died at the age of 9. Bless Jane Seymour, my dear wife. After that, I arranged a marriage to “Anne of Cleves” when I looked at Hans Hobleins painting, she was a beauty. But when she arrived, she was the ugliest girl ever, I divorced her and married Kathryn Howard who I have executed because she was promiscuous. Then I widowed Catherine Parr, my last wife.

Q How did your work change the way people lived in the Renaissance?

I have made myself the head of the church, because that pope wouldn’t allow me to divorce Catherine of Aragon. And, since I have married and divorced or executed my wives, I show my people that I have power.

Q What impact do you believe your work will have on the future?

It shows that I have complete control of my family, so men in the household will have power too.

Q Which of the 6 wives do you favor the most?

I favor Jane Seymour, my beloved third wife, who bore me Edward. Unfortunately, she deceased after two weeks. I plan to be buried next to her in St.George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Q What did Edward 1, Jane Seymour’s son die of?

He was supposed to be my successor, but he tragically died of tuberculosis, when he was 16.

Q What is your favorite hobby?

Playing and composing music. I own 10 trombones, 14 trumpets, five bagpipes, 76 recorders, and 78 flutes. I composed the song “Greensleves”

Q What was the religion when you reigned England?

When I married Catherine of Aragon, who was a Catholic, the religion was that everyone was Catholic. When I wanted to divorce, her I asked the pope if I could. He refused. So I built a new church called the “Church of England” and made myself the head of it. It was a protestant church.

Q Why did you execute Anne Boleyn, the mother of Mary 1?

I wanted to get rid of Anne Boleyn for giving me only Mary 1. Her other babies died. My people accused her of witch craft because she was born with the sign of the devil on her and she had six fingers on her left hand!

Q What impact do you think you have in history?

My reign was the most colorful in British History, in large part due to my adventures. I changed a great deal of political and religious and social change. I believe I am a true Renaissance King. I am intelligent, handsome, artistic, adventurous and devoted to learning. My country was never invaded by an outside force during my rule.

Q What is your motto?

” If a lion knew his strength, it were hard for any man to hold him”.

•-         Sir Thomas More of King Henry V111.

Q Who was your father and mother?

My father is King Henry V11 and my mother is Elizabeth of York.

Q When did your reign start and end?

It started from April 22, 1509 to January 28, 1547.

Thank you.

Link to Osama Bin Laden’s biography

What is interesting about this topic?

I find it interesting because no one has dared accused Bin Laden that he was targeting a person.

Then out of the deep blue sea, Mullah Dadullah , a Taliban general, accuses him. He is risking his life just to accuse Bin Laden.  He has no evidence. But the question is how does he know? We are not sure if we can believe him. Maybe he was just saying that because he was part of Al- Qaeda, and he wanted Bin Laden dead.

What new info has emerged?

Haha. I bet you that everybody thought that Bin Laden was targeting Iraq and America. But then a person says that he was only targeting one person. That is strange, but it is new info.

What did you like about the initial blog posting?

Hmmm… We havent heard from Osama Bin Laden for along time. It was really good for Shane too inform us about this info. It is interesting and clear. Next time he could tell who Osama Bin Laden, or more details about Mullah Dadullah. I mean it only says that Mullah Dadullah is a Taliban general. But overall, the initial Blog posting was good!

I prefer to think that Charles Darwin had the “Renaissance Spirit”. The Renaissance Spirit consisted of art, literature, and exploration. You had to think more about art, and indicate beautiful sculptures and learn to appreciate art. You had to also know how to read and write, fluently. Exploration is just looking at the world at a different aspect. The reason that I chose Charles Darwin is because the explored around, and had a different view from an average man or woman at his time. When Charles Darwin was just merrily a young child, he was different. He loved to explore his garden and look and touch bugs, when kids his age went to school. People in Europe and America believed God created the world in six days, just like it is written in the bible. But Charles Darwin thought differently, just like a true scientist. Most people then would just accept the fact. He questioned everything, and would always find the answer by looking at it. Then, to satisfy his curiosity, Charles Darwin would explore to new lands, compare their plants and animals to his land and take notes. Charles Darwin developed a new idea that animals and everything evolved naturally over time, which represents the fact that in my opinion, he has the renaissance spirit.

What new information has emerged?

I did NOT KNOW THAT HIV has come to Malaysia! Now I know that the country I live in is not safe, and I could get infected. It also means that HIV can spread really fast, and could effect the whole world! It also shows that there are diseases in every country that you need to be wary of.

What did I find so interesting about this topic?

This topic is interesting because it is about a disease in the country we live in, Malayisa. It kind of surprises me because now the country where I live is in danger of HIV, the disease that makes you really ill. I will be kinda scared next time I go to a clinic for an injection in the future because it might be infected! And trust me NO ONE wants to get HIV.

What did you like about the initial posting?

I liked how Ho Su knew the topic well, without once looking at the board; she knew it at the top of her head. She chose an interesting topic that shocked most of our classmates, and it also warns about dirty and infected needles! I have a suggestion for her next time, she should explain what HIV is first, so that people will know what she’s talking about! :D
